Metaphor Therapy is a fantastically creative way to work using therapeutic or coaching interventions. We use a range of metaphorical approaches including Kopp. A metaphor is a way of explaining how you feel using an example, perhaps of a natural occurrence. For example, the picture above could be somebody’s metaphor for how they feel, like an exploding volcano. Using images, or characters to work through therapeutic processes can enhance the depth and pace of the work and is highly insightful, powerful work. We may be visually or feelings orientated, this may be an easy way for us to explain how we are and what is going on for us. Accessing feelings and thoughts in this way is an exciting personal development journey where you can play with other creative mediums as well if you like.
Below are some other common metaphors we might use sometimes to explain how we are.
